NHS Borders was re assessed By UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative in May 2016 and successfully retained its accreditation. This means that women can expect the high standard of care as detailed on the website. This accreditation covers the hospital and all community health board facilities so these should all be breastfeeding friendly spaces.
The Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) provides information and support for both the public and health professionals on infant feeding. The BFI aims to ensure all parents are equipped to make informed decisions about feeding their babies and are supported in their chosen feeding method.
