Going to the Emergency Department or phoning 999

Please ensure that you seek the right care from the right place and only attend the Emergency Department (ED) or phone 999 for life threatening emergencies that require emergency medical care such as severe injury, a suspected heart attack or stroke, breathing difficulties, or severe bleeding.

People attending the Emergency Department will be treated according to clinical priority.

People with non-life threatening conditions are advised to call NHS 24 first on 111, day or night.
