Making an appointment:
To make an appointment with one of our Primary Care Team, please call the surgery on 01896 863361 after 8.30am. If possible you will be offered an appointment for the same working day, or we can offer limited prebookable 2 weeks/48 hours in advance with a GP/Mental Health Nurse or 6 weeks in advance with our practice nurses or health care assistants. However, all of our appointments with our Advanced Nurse Practitioners are on the day. You are therefore advised to call as close to 8.30am as possible to get a face to face appointment with them.
Out of hours:
Borders Health Board is responsible for out-of-hours services. When the Practice is closed, care is provided via NHS24 from the Borders Emergency Care Centre based at Borders General Hospital. This service operates from 18.00 - 08.00 Monday to Friday, all weekend, and on local and public holidays. The service can be accessed by phoning NHS24 on 111.
Home visits:
Home visits are for patients who are too ill or infirm to attend the Health Centre. If possible your request should be telephoned before 10.00, giving the receptionist an indication of the problem and the urgency. This allows your doctor to act appropriately. We ask patients to remember that we can see four people in the surgery in the time that a home visit normally takes.
Repeat prescriptions:
We operate a 72 hour presription service, which excludes Saturday and Sunday. Your doctor will arrange for you to receive Repeat Prescription Order Forms when your medication is going to be required on a regular basis. Please look after your forms, and use them when requesting repeat prescriptions. We ask patients not to request repeat prescriptions by telephone, as this can result in error, and engages busy lines and staff. Please assist your doctor and reception staff by following these guidelines for your repeat prescription requests.
Guidelines for Repeat Prescriptions:
- Keep and use your repeat prescription order forms.
- Bring it with you when you are consulting your doctor, or going into hospital.
- Bring, send, or post it to the Health Centre for your repeat prescriptions. Do not wait until you run out of your medication.
- Please mark your form clearly in pencil against the medications which you are requesting. If you wish your prescription to be posted to you, please provide a stamped self-addressed envelope.
- We encourage patients to make use of the daily prescription collection services provided by the local Jedburgh chemists.
- Avoid telephone requests, unless you are unable to bring, send, or post your form to the Health Centre. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.
- Your repeat prescription(s) and new reorder form will be available after 12:00 (noon) on second working day after your request is received e.g. requests on Friday will be available on Tuesday after 12:00 (noon).
Your doctor will exercise discretion regarding urgent requests.
