What do we do:

The Margaret Kerr Unit (MKU) is a purpose-built specialist palliative care unit serving the population of the Scottish Borders. We have eight comfortable rooms with spaces and gardens for patients, families and friends to relax and receive support. Whilst we operate open visiting we ask that you check with staff first to make sure that it is convenient.

We also see patients within the unit as an outpatient.

The team look after patients whose symptoms are complex, working with them in their home, community hospitals or care homes as well as the Borders General Hospital and the MKU.

Fundraising:

We are very grateful for all the ongoing donations, which allow us to develop services to improve care for all our patients in a community or hospital setting. the difference is the fundraising part of NHS Borders and you can send donations to them outlining that it is for the MKU.

Car parking:

Limited parking on site specially for visitors to MKU. General parking available within the Borders General Hospital Car Parking.

Where are we:

Situated in the beautiful Scottish border countryside around 1 hour from Edinburgh and 1 hour from Berwick-upon-Tweed.
