We know it’s hard to stop smoking for many reasons. It’s not just a matter of deciding to do it – sometimes there are other things that can make it difficult to cut cigarettes out of your life. And sometimes you need more than just will power to make sure you can stick to a smoke free life.
The Quit Your Way team have joined the Wellbeing Service who offer support for healthy lifestyles including stopping smoking.
Stop smoking support is offered in a variety of local places including:
- Support in the Community
- Community Pharmacies and Chemists
Our services are free and delivered by trained advisers. Our experience has shown that having a knowledgeable and qualified person to give you support and using nicotine replacement therapy (e.g. nicotine patches, lozenges or gum) or Varenicline (Champix) means that you are four times more likely to succeed in stopping smoking. Currently Varenicline is not available due to supply problems.
Prescriptions for nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) – e.g. nicotine patches or gum – can be obtained from all of our advisers, and you will normally be provided with enough for one week at a time.
If you would like to know more about what is available in your local area please contact the Wellbeing Service and we can help you decide which support is best for you.
