The pregnancy assessment unit provides pregnancy assessment throughout all stages and ultrasound scans for miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, dating,nuchal translucency, fetal detail and growth measurements.
There is a team of 5 qualified midwife sonographers supported by a clerkess. PAU is open from 08 30 – 16 30hrs Monday to Friday. Women can access this service via GP or community midwife referral, women who have previously or are currently attending the unit can self refer for early pregnancy assessment if concerns arise prior to their next appointment.
Clinics supporting diabetic pregnancies and pregnancy complicated by existing medical conditions are Consultant Led and supported by the team.
Follow up with Consultant for increased chance screening results is also co-ordinated through the unit, with fast track appointments and counselling.
