Hearing Therapy is a service offered within Borders Audiology Service for patients who require counselling support for hearing loss or help with managing their hearing needs.
Our hearing therapist can also offer guidance in communication tactics, support with hearing aid management and advice on assistive devices to help people with hearing loss both at home and in the workplace.
The objective of hearing therapy is to provide and promote:
- Better management of your hearing devices
- Active Listening and Communication Tactics
- Advice on specific Assistive Listening Devices
- Positive attitudes towards your impairment, giving you a deeper understanding of your difficulty
- Development of your skills to reduce stress and anxiety and increase your confidence
- Counselling to regain your independence
- Hyperacusis management
How do I get an appointment?
Access to the NHS Borders Hearing Therapy service is via referral from your Audiologist or ENT Consultant. If you are a current hearing aid user and feel you would benefit from an appointment with our hearing therapist please contact the department for further information.
