Your hearing aid requires regular maintenance and servicing in order to work to its best ability. It is your responsibility to keep the aid clean and much of your hearing aid’s basic maintenance can be done at home.  NHS Borders Audiology Department do run a hearing aid repair service. This service is primarily for repair of broken aids, retubing and some basic alterations such as adding extra programmes. If your hearing aid requires fine tuning i.e. you are having difficulties in particular situations you would require an appointment with an audiologist instead.

Below you will find links to instructional videos and leaflets on how to maintain aspects of your hearing aids at home and some troubleshooting tips. You will also find a list of where you can collect replacement batteries and the dates and times of our volunteer led retubing clinics. NHS Borders Audiology Department at the BGH does not currently offer a walk in service for repairs. Hearing aids can however be posted in to the department for repair and we will then send them back out to you once they have been fixed.

Batteries

Batteries can be collected from your local GP practice during openning hours or alternatively from the Audiolpgy department (on a FRIDAY ONLY).

Please remember to bring along your yellow battery prescription book.
