Co-Production Week Scotland 2023

This week (13 – 17 November) is Co-Production Week Scotland 2023 which focuses on people making things happen with people, instead of to them. 

Co-production is a way of making decisions that combines everyone’s strengths so that we can work together to achieve positive change. It’s about shifting the balance of power in our public services and communities.

Equality, inclusion and a human rights based approach is at the heart of shifting the balance of power. Meaningful engagement and co-production with communities, public agencies and government results in shared decisions and working towards new, innovative solutions.

Ralph Roberts, Chief Executive of NHS Borders said: “This is a timely reminder of how important co-production is to our communities and services. Co-production takes time, resources and flexibility which in turn enables the building of trust, meaningful relationships and new ways of working.

“We are committed to the concept of co-production and are currently engaging with the people of the Borders in ‘Time for Change’ conversations to help co-produce NHS Borders’ Medium Term Plan. The focus of the sessions will be led by what matters to you, and there will be an opportunity for you to hear about the current position of services, what the people of the Borders have told us matters to them before, and the work we are currently doing to address challenges faced. There will be space to discuss the challenges and potential solutions in these areas. We need to know what matters to you so that we can act on it.

“Together we can co-produce local services to better suit our communities, using the resources available to us, and we would encourage as many people as possible to get involved and attend your local Time for Change conversation.”

 

Our ‘Time for Change’ conversations are discussions with our communities about the healthcare services that we provide you. Sessions are taking place in each locality and every session will be led by one of the NHS Borders Board Executive Team (BET). There will be an opportunity to view a presentation and have a discussion, so drop in at a time to suit you. Sessions are taking place at the following times and locations:

-          Tuesday 14 November (2:00pm-7:00pm) at Peebles Community Centre

-          Wednesday 15 November (2:00pm-6:30pm) at Heart of Hawick

-          Monday 27 November (2:00pm-7:00pm) at Abbey Row Community Centre, Kelso

-          Wednesday 29 November (2:00pm-7:00pm) at The Great Tapestry Discovery Room, Galashiels

-          Monday 11 December (2:00pm-7:00pm) at Southfield Community Centre, Duns
