Plans are now underway to vaccinate the rest of our adult population (those aged 18-49). The aim is to have offered and vaccinated everyone by the end of July, depending on vaccine supply.

Appointments for those aged 40-49 have been scheduled. If you are in this group you will receive your vaccination appointment letter via post in the next few days.

Over 68,000 people have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the Borders so far.

In addition, over 34,000 people have received their second dose. Our GP colleagues and community vaccination teams have now offered and administered second doses to those who were eligible in Wave 1 and 2.

This includes:

  • care home residents
  • clinically extremely vulnerable individuals (those who were shielding)
  • everyone aged 65 and over

If you are in any of these groups and have not been invited for your second vaccination, please visit https://www.nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine/invitations-and-appointments/missing-appointment-details to let us know about your missing appointment.

We will soon start scheduling second dose appointments for those who were eligible in Wave 3 in line with the national dosing schedule. If you received your first appointment by letter (blue envelope) you will receive your second appointment by letter as well.

Nicky Berry, Director of Nursing and Operations said: “It is really important that you come forward to get vaccinated when it is your turn. This includes coming forward for your second dose to ensure that you have lasting protection against Covid-19.”
