Over 44,000 people have received their first dose of the covid vaccine in the Borders so far.
Wave 3 of the programme is currently underway and will run to early May. The following groups are eligible as part of this Wave:
- all individuals aged 16 years to 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality
- Unpaid carers, including all adult carers and young carers aged 16 to 18
- all those 60 years of age and over
- all those 55 years of age and over
- all those 50 years of age and over
Those eligible in this Wave will receive their appointment via letter. Letters are being sent out in order of the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) priority list. Do not worry if someone receives their letter before you.
It is important that you attend your appointment when it is your turn to get vaccinated. If you can’t make your appointment please follow the instructions on your letter to reschedule, this will also allow us to offer the appointment to someone else.
If you are in the following groups and have not been offered an appointment please visit https://www.nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine/invitations-and-appointments/missing-appointment-details for details about how to enquire about your appointment.
- Care home residents
- Those aged 65 and over
- Those who are clinically extremely vulnerable (previously shielding)
Our teams are now administering second doses to those who are eligible. So far over 2,500 people have received their second dose.
Up to date information about our vaccination programme including details about our rollout plan and announced Waves is available here.
It is extremely important that everyone, even those who have been vaccinated, continue to follow FACTS and the Scottish Government guidance to protect themselves and others from the virus, as the first eligible groups are prioritised.
These rules are really important if we are to keep each other safe and allow time for the COVID vaccination programme to take place over the coming months.
