19 February 2021
Over 36,000 people have received their first dose of the covid vaccine in the Borders so far.
Wave 2 of the programme is currently underway having commenced on 1 February. So far 91% of people eligible in this Wave have been vaccinated. We are delighted to advise that all people aged 70 – 79 and those clinically extremely vulnerable have been offered a vaccination appointment as part of this Wave.
If you are 65 – 69 and you haven’t been offered your vaccination yet please do not worry, you will be contacted and vaccinated by 28 February. Please do not contact your practice or our booking hub direct unless advised to do so.
Our teams have also started administering second doses to those who are eligible. So far over 600 people have received their second dose.
Wave 3 will commence next week and will run until early May. Those eligible will receive their appointment via letter in due course. Letters will be sent out in order of the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) priority list. Do not worry if someone receives their letter before you.
It is important that you attend your appointment when it is your turn to get vaccinated. If you can’t make your appointment please follow the instructions on your letter to reschedule, this will also allow us to offer the appointment to someone else.
Up to date information about our vaccination programme including details about our rollout plan and announced Waves is available here.
It is extremely important that everyone, even those who have been vaccinated, continue to follow FACTS and the Scottish Government guidance to protect themselves and others from the virus, as the first eligible groups are prioritised.
These rules are really important if we are to keep each other safe and allow time for the COVID vaccination programme to take place over the coming months.
