26 April 2021
We have now offered a vaccination to everyone in the priority groups as set out by the Joint Committee of Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI):
- clinically extremely vulnerable individuals (those who were shielding)
- everyone aged 50 and over
- those aged 16-64 with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality
- all adults with a learning disability – mild, moderate, severe and profound
- unpaid carers aged 16-64
If you are in any of these groups and have not been invited for your vaccination, please visit https://www.nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine/invitations-and-appointments/missing-appointment-details to let us know about your missing appointment.
Any unpaid carers who have not yet booked their appointment can book by calling the national helpline on 0800 013 8013.
Plans are now underway to vaccinate the rest of our adult population (those aged 18-49). The aim is to have offered and vaccinated everyone by the end of July, depending on vaccine supply.
Appointments for those aged 46-49 are currently being scheduled. If you are in this group you will receive your vaccination appointment letter via post in the next few days.
Over 66,000 people have received their first dose of the covid vaccine in the Borders so far.
In addition, our teams continue to administer second doses to those who were eligible in Wave 1 and 2. So far over 31,500 people have received their second dose. We will soon start scheduling second dose appointments for those who were eligible in Wave 3 in line with the national dosing schedule.
If you are waiting to receive your second appointment please be assured that you will be contacted by the team who gave you your first jab, please do not call your GP Practice unless advised to do so. If you received your first appointment by letter (blue envelope) you will receive your second appointment by letter as well.
It is really important that you come forward to get your second dose when it is your turn to ensure that you have lasting protection against Covid-19.
Up to date information about our vaccination programme including details about our rollout plan and announced Waves is available here.
Please do not contact your GP Practice to ask for a Covid vaccination passport or status certificate – they will not be able to provide any standard document. International certification standards have not yet been agreed.
It is extremely important that everyone, even those who have been vaccinated, continue to follow FACTS and the Scottish Government guidance to protect themselves and others.
These rules are really important if we are to keep each other safe and allow time for the COVID vaccination programme to take place over the coming months.
