Paella, Patatas Bravas and Gambas al Ajillo … Spanish Tapas is coming to the Borders General Hospital (BGH) on Thursday 26th September!

Over the past few months the Catering Team at the BGH have taken staff, patients and visitors on a gastronomic tour of the world and the next stop is Spain.

These monthly themed days, which the team came up with to encourage their creativity in the kitchen and also to give diners the chance to try something different, have seen us travel from America for dishes such as brisket burgers, ribs and blueberry pancakes to Greece for souvlaki, lamb kofta and tabouleh to name a few.

Feedback from staff has been fantastic with comments including;

"What a lovely change, our Catering Team really are making a huge effort and we love it!"

"Isn't this fantastic, it's nice to do something a bit different. It really created a talking point at our lunchtime catch up and was a really good boost for staff morale."

Muriel Thomson, Catering Manager at NHS Borders, said: "Our team have worked hard to think of ideas and future destinations for our monthly themed days. They really have proved popular particularly with staff which is great to see. The dining room, which is on the first floor of the BGH in the blue zone, is open to the public and with a trip to Spain coming up there’s no better time to stop by and try the delicious food on offer."

Future themed days will be advertised on NHS Borders Facebook and Twitter.
