This year the 13th annual Hizzy Run raised more money than ever before with donations going to the Cancer Centre at the BGH and The Margaret Kerr Unit. The annual loop in honour of Steve Hislop was dedicated to Dot Haig who passed away earlier this year. Dot, from Jedburgh, felt that the team at the Macmillan Centre at the BGH “was like a second family”.

The loop takes motorcyclists from Denholm up to Gifford and Carfraemill and finishing at Denholm once again. A team of volunteers collecting donations for the Macmillan Centre and The Margaret Kerr Unit along the streets of Denholm raised £2000 in total giving £1000 to each unit.

Judith Smith from the Macmillan Centre said “thank you so much to the organisers, volunteers and supporters for your hard work and kind donations.” Annabel Howell, Lead Cancer Clinician said, “this money will be used to fund the extras that make a difficult time for other people that bit easier. Thank you for your generosity.”

Wendy, Margaret and Neil said “we would like to thank everyone for their help on the day to support a worthwhile cause. Dot and Steve would be very proud”.
