Young People's Guide to Mental Health and Wellbeing
This guide contains information about mental health, ways to be well, a self-care calendar, groups and activities for young people, self-help information and contacts for support services. Youth Borders
Youth Borders is the network of voluntary and community based youth organisations in the Scottish Borders. Their website has a database of members across the region.

Youth Borders also has a co-ordinating role in the Stepping Stones project, a partnership youth work project that supports young people aged 10-18 in the Scottish Borders, with the aim of improving their emotional health and wellbeing, and life chances.
Prevention of Young Suicide
PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people.
The Papyrus suicide prevention helpline, HOPELINE247, is staffed by trained suicide prevention advisers, who work with young people – and anybody concerned for a young person – to help keep them safe from suicide. HOPELINE247 is a free and confidential call, text and email service, which is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year (weekends and bank holidays included). Their website has excellent advice and resources including a safety plan.

Self-Harm - information, resources and support
Self-Harm Network Scotland provides free compassionate support, resources, and information about self-harm. Run by Penumbra, they work with each person to find their own way forward.
The network also provides support and information to friends, families and professionals. The ‘How We Can Help’ drop-down menu on the website has an excellent selection of resources. If you self-harm and need support, the live chat is available between 6pm – 10pm every evening. Alternatively, you can self-refer for one-to-one ongoing support via the ‘Contact Us’ page.

Children and Young People's Mental Health and Wellbeing Learning Resource
This is a Scottish Government resource that has been designed for all staff working in schools across Scotland. It is open access and available to anyone who may find it of benefit - you do not have to work in a school to access it.
There are four main sections split into bitesize topics:
• An overview of mental health and wellbeing
• Factors influencing mental health and wellbeing
• Applying prevention based approaches to mental health and wellbeing in schools
• School staff wellbeing

Solihull Approach - online courses
‘In Our Place’ is an NHS website that has online courses dedicated to improving the emotional health and wellbeing in parents, children, teenagers, adults and grandparents. The courses have all been developed by psychologists at the Solihull Approach in partnership with health experts, schools, psychotherapists and parents. Many of the courses have free access via the NHS Education for Scotland TARTAN Access Plan. Find out more here:
